There’s us.
We’re a small, family-owned coffee business right here in East Tennessee. When you send us a message with a question, there’s a pretty good chance you’re talking directly to me. When your coffee is being handled, your order is being filled, and that box is being packed for shipping, we’re involved in it.
And yes, I’m human. Every once in a while, I make a mistake. If that happens, tell me. I’ll correct it.
That may be one of the biggest differences between doing business with a small company and buying from one of the giants. We don’t have layers of employees handing things from one department to another to keep a massive operation moving. We have our hands on the business every day, and our name is attached to what goes out the door.
Public Service Is Part of Who We Are
Our background is in public service, and that has carried over into how we run The Lawman Coffee Co.
For us, customer service isn’t a department. It’s part of the business.
We want to provide a quality product, answer your questions, take care of our customers, and fix something when it isn’t right. Pretty simple.
That same philosophy applies to the coffee itself.
We Found a Coffee Bean We Believe In
There are a lot of coffee beans in the world. We don’t believe that constantly changing suppliers just to chase a better price is necessarily the best way to build a better cup of coffee.
We source our coffee through fair-trade farming practices and have developed a relationship with the farmers behind the beans we use. Once we found a coffee bean that we genuinely enjoyed, we stuck with it.
That consistency matters.
Coffee is an agricultural product. Where it’s grown, how it’s harvested, how it’s processed, and ultimately how it’s roasted all contribute to what ends up in your cup.
Our roasting profiles have been fine-tuned around the beans we use. The goal is simple: bring out the characteristics we like and consistently deliver a great bag of ground or whole-bean coffee—or a great cup from one of our K-Cups.
Behind the Scenes, We’re Still Sampling
Sticking with a bean we trust doesn’t mean we’ve stopped looking and learning.
Behind the scenes, we’re constantly sampling. Different beans come across our table, and quite frankly, a lot of them don’t make the cut. If we wouldn’t be happy drinking it ourselves, we’re certainly not going to put The Lawman Coffee Co. name on it and sell it to you.
That’s part of being small enough to care about what’s actually in the bag.
We don’t need dozens of coffees simply so we can say we have dozens of coffees. We’d rather offer coffee we believe is worth drinking.
This Isn’t Your Grandma’s Sanka
Now, no disrespect to Grandma.
There was a time when coffee was pretty simple. You opened a can, scooped some into the coffee maker, hit the switch and went about your morning.
Sanka, Folgers and the other grocery-store standards served generations of coffee drinkers just fine.
But coffee has come a long way.
Today, people want to know more about what they’re drinking. They care about where the beans come from, how they’re roasted, freshness, flavor, acidity and what actually makes one cup different from another.
That’s where we want The Lawman Coffee Co. to be.
We’re not trying to provide another ordinary cup of coffee.
