🔥 No-Fail Pellet Grill BBQ Pork Ribs | Low & Slow Rib Tutorial
Looking for tender, juicy BBQ pork ribs with amazing flavor and a perfect bite? This is my no-fail low and slow pellet grill rib method. There are many ways to cook ribs, but this process delivers consistent results, incredible smoke flavor, and competition-style BBQ ribs every time.
Step 1: Remove the Membrane (Must Do)
Always start by removing the membrane from the back of the ribs. This helps the BBQ seasoning, smoke flavor, and tenderness penetrate the meat.
If you’ve never done this before, watch a quick YouTube tutorial — use a paper towel to grip and pull it off easily.
Step 2: Apply a Binder
A binder helps your BBQ rub stick to the ribs and builds great bark.
-
Most people use mustard (and no — you won’t taste it).
-
I use orange-flavored olive oil for a subtle sweetness and incredible color.
Step 3: Season the Ribs
Seasoning is totally your choice. For this cook:
-
Honey seasoning for sweetness
-
The Lawman Rub Co. Gun Slinger BBQ Seasoning for bold BBQ flavor
👉 Side note: No heat in this combo — perfect for the whole family.

Step 4: Low & Slow Smoke
Place ribs on the pellet grill meat side up.
-
Set pellet grill to 180°F
-
Smoke for 3 hours
-
Lower temps = more smoke flavor
This is where you build that authentic smoked BBQ rib flavor.
Step 5: Wrap for Tenderness
I prefer the Texas-style wrap method.
Use two sheets of wide foil and add:
-
Brown sugar sprinkle
-
Honey squeeze
-
Butter pads
-
Extra BBQ seasoning
Place ribs top side down and repeat the same ingredients on the other side.
-
Baby Back Ribs: 350°F for 1 hour
-
St. Louis or Spare Ribs: 1 hour 15 minutes – 1 hour 30 minutes (thicker cut)
Step 6: Sauce & Finish
Carefully unwrap, flip ribs over, and apply your favorite BBQ sauce.
-
Return to grill for 10–15 minutes to set the sauce.
Step 7: Rest, Slice & Enjoy
Let ribs cool slightly, slice, and enjoy perfect pellet grill pork ribs with a great bite and incredible BBQ flavor.
Forget “fall-off-the-bone.” Real BBQ ribs should have structure — these are true smoked meat sticks done right.
